In 2009 I was bitten by the movie bug. More specifically I was bitten by the art of Machinima–film made via the 3d graphics engines of video games. I happened upon a music video made with the LionHead Studio’s game The Movies and was hooked.
In Machinima filmmakers use the graphic engines of existing games to make films by setting up virtual actors and sets and filming through external video screen captures or through the game itself. Settings in a game can make broad vistas undreamed of in Hollywood possible while simultaneously stymieing the simplest of shots. This duality is part of what intrigues me.
