The British Library has a new addition to its collection of English history, with the acquisition of seventeen bound volumes of historical pamphlets. The 900 pamphlets date from the 1640s to the 1670s, the time of the English Civil War under Charles I. The documents are thought to have formed part of the King’s own collection and provide contemporary thoughts on the English Civil War and the Interregnum as well as the campaigns in Scotland and Ireland.
The transfer will allow more access to the documents, which were previously locked away in the Home Office library. The collection was presented to the British Library by the Home Office of Britain. The Home Office is a United Kingdom government department, responsible for internal affairs of the state.
