My name is Christopher. The Curmudgeony Librarian is my 1337 haxz0r “Adjective Librarian” nickname. Hard to spell? Yup, but I like it. CLNN started off as a library news portal, an outgrowth of the original site founded long ago in 2002. I found a niche in the library world and a successful catchphrase. Things were good. Then I left.

In my sabbatical, I found life and love and realized that there is more to life than librarianship. Now I’m back, and CLNN.Info reflects the changes in my life. It’s less about librarians and more a showcase of stuff I do and like. Library Science still has a home here, but now its more about art and wonder and really neat stuff. It has things I’ve written, places I’ve been, and things that fascinate me. Come in, look around, read, enjoy and share.

Articles

The articles section highlights articles on a variety of topics. Most of what is here is related to library and information science, but other topics are welcome. Articles on parenting, home schooling, and sustainable living are forthcoming. This is a growing section and users are free to contribute suggestions for articles.

Wonderment and Curiosities

The Wonderment and section is focused on “neat” or interesting subjects. Things ranging from steampunk, typography, humor, graphic design, and other things. The Creative Annex for art and literature is found in this section, along with Douglas A. McLeod’s Star Trek: Door Repair Guy.

Arts and Leisures

Arts and Leisures is my section for creativity. This is the spot to find the things I make and share. A collection of my photography and movies are found here.

Our Extended Family

The CLNN family has grown and expanded into new areas over the years. New sites have sprung up featuring diffrent things. These our some of our family of sites.

In addition to the site, we are also known for our tee shirts. The classic “I’m a librarian don’t make me shush your ___” catchphrase has been a staple on tee and messenger bags and even undies since 2003. The Superstore has a variety of items all available for purchase, from the cute to the sassy and everything in between.

NexGen Librarians

The main page for the NexGen Librarians mailing list. Founded, in 2003 by Christine Borne and Sophie Brookover as a resource for those new to the profession of librarianship; the list moved to Google groups in 2006 where it continues to this very day. Here you will find links for joining the list as well as a selection of photos from the members of the group.
